The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed has condemned the media warfare between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives for Tamale Central and Tamale South constituencies and supporters of the Mayor of Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior .
The party executives in a joint petition called for the Tamale Mayor’s dismissal accusing him of insubordination.
They also claimed Iddrisu Musah Superior’s conduct was making the NPP unpopular in the Tamale Metropolis.
In defense of the Mayor, polling station executives and electoral area coordinators in the two constituencies called the bluff of their leadership and described them as traitors.
According to them, they were not consulted as the grassroots leadership of the party for which reason the two constituencies’ leadership joint petition should be ignored.
The Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed in a Citi News interview called for ceasefire saying, “I have observed the unfortunate impasse that has generated internal wrangling within the party in the Tamale Metropolis and I want to appeal to them to ceasefire.”
He underscored the need for the constituency executives and the Tamale Mayor’s supporters to respect the NPP’s constitution.
He reminded them of the need to use the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms to address their grievances.
“I want to appeal to everybody to stop discussing the matter on air. Fortunately, we have the leadership, we have party structures and internal conflict resolution mechanisms. So I want to appeal to everybody to a ceasefire and let us handle it as an internal matter.”
Salifu Sa-eed said the heated internal wrangling within the NPP is affecting the government’s development agenda.
“We have to live together so that at the end of the day, we will forge ahead to prosecute the vision and agenda of President Nana Akufo Addo.”
