German giants Schalke 04 inserted a buy-back clause in Bernard Tekpetey’s move to SC Paderborn in case the Ghanaian rediscovers the form that made him one of the most sought-after teenagers in Europe.
The 20-year-old joined Paderborn on a three-year deal, ending his two-year association with Schalke 04.
However, should he prove to revive his flagging career, Schalke have ensured they will not be caught out – insisting on an option to recall him to Arena AufSchalke.
The pacey forward joined Schalke from Unistar Academy in Ghana in 2016. However, he found it difficult breaking into the Schalke team, playing only two games for them in the Bundesliga.
In the first round of the 2017/2018 season, Tekpetey was loaned to the Austrian Bundesliga side SCR Altach, where he made appearances in the championship and in the cup competition.
