Ghana will later today take on Monaco in their second group game in beach volleyball at the ongoing third Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Ghana team being represented by Eric Tsatsu and Kelvin Carboo are poised to get their first win in the competition as they lost their opening match against Hungary.

They lost by 0-2 to Hungary’s Artur Hajos and Bence Attila Streli.

The pair are drawn in Pool G of the men’s beach volleyball competition in the ongoing games.

A win against Monaco’s Ludovic Palmaro and Olivier Lanteri will secure them a confident approach to their last game against Croatia.

According to the team, their success story at the recently held Africa Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria, is still a motivation for them to do well in the Games.

The team won silver at the Africa Youth Games, which qualified them to the Buenos Aires games as Africa’s representatives.

The two players, Eric Tsatsu and Kelvin Carboo, have been playing together for a while and have represented the country at major international competitions, including the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games held in Bahamas.

Speaking in an interview with The Finder after losing to Hungary, they said their target for the Youth Olympic Games is to work hard and also make a mark in their competition, saying “our goal is to make a name for Africa, Ghana and ourselves”.

Now ranked second best on the continent in beach volleyball, they said their target of getting a podium finish at the Youth Olympic Games is still on course.

“We need to go out to train to gain some level of experience and get some degree of motivation to make our nation proud. We have put the Hungary game behind us and we are looking forward to winning our game against Monaco.

“We believe in ourselves, as we have a mission for Ghana and Africa. This is not football; it’s beach volleyball, and we want to be the best in the world,” they expressed confidently.
