Watch newly crowned WBO Super Bantamweight Champion, Isaac ‘Royal Storm” Dogboe take his turn on Sports Check with GhanaWeb.com Sports editor, Daniel Oduro.
After several unsuccessful attempts to make it as a professional football star in England, Isaac Dogboe narrates how upon the advice and persuasion of his father/coach, he took up a career in boxing at the age of 14.
His fortunes, even as an amateur boxer, was about to change rapidly, even if it came with the usual challenges of rejection and doubts about his abilities.
Three years after venturing into boxing, Dogboe was on his way to his first Olympic Games with Team Ghana in London. The then 17-old was a standout performer, never mind he didn’t win a medal at the games.
He turned professional soon after that and has not looked back since then. Dogboe reveals his father’s five year plan since he turned professional at age 18 has worked to precision.
Now aged 23, Dogboe is the new WBO Super Bantamweight Champion and has dreams of dominating in that weight category for a while before moving up in weight. First though, he has set his sights on unifying the division and becoming the undisputed Super Bantamweight champion.
As if that is not ambitious enough, Dogboe exclusively revealed to Sports Check host, Daniel Oduro that he will be going back to school to peruse his University education. There are other interesting revelations in this exciting interview.
